BRITISH PRECAUTIONS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, May 14. After the Secretary for War (Mr Eden) had broadcast on Tuesday night for recruits for the new local defence volunteer corps to counter the possible activities of German parachutists an immediate response resulted in many areas. No sooner had Mr Eden finished his talk than the police stations were inundated with offers of assistance. Telephone calls were almost continuous, while hundreds of other men proceeded on foot to register.
