REPERTORY SOCIETY.

“LOVERS’ LEAP” CONCLUDES. A most sdccessiul production concluded, last evening, with the final presentation of the Manawatu Repertory Society’s comedy “Lovers’ Leap” before a largo and appreciative audience. After the final curtain a number of floral tributes were presented to the lady-members of the cast, and the president (Mr M. H. Oram) expressed the society’s thanks' to the actors and the producer (Mr F. Cousins). lie also thanked those who had served behind the scenes, and answered criticism that the cast had been such a small one by stating that in tlie next major productions quite a large number of the members would be called upon to fill the positions in the plays to bo staged. At the conclusion of the evening all those connected with the production, as well as members of the executive and the social committee, met in the club room for a cheery supper party. After congratulating the players, Mr Oram announced that ho was glad to have tlie opportunity of expressing the society’s felicitations to Miss Joan Rowntrec, who ia shortly to be ma.rried. Miss Rowntree was presented with a gift and her health was toasted with musical honours. Air Oram also welcomed several members of the Wanganui Repertory Society who had come over to see “Lovers’ Leap,” and recalled pleasant memories of the society’s presentation of “The First. Mrs Fraser” in the Empire Hall last year. On behalf of the. cast of “Lovers’ Leap,” Air G. Driver made a presentation to the producer. Air Cousins, who said in reply that ho did not know of a team of players in New Zealand who would have done better, and he congratulated them most, heartily on tlieir performance. After .slipper an informal dance was held, and a highly successful season was brought to a pleasant conclusion.
