Mrs L. F. Cooper, of Carlton Avenue, is visiting Wanganui. The appointment of Miss L. M. Hodder,. of Wellington, and formerly of Palmerston North, as a child welfare officer, is announced in the latest Gazette.

Mr Kitchen and liis daughter, Mrs R. Symonds, of, Hastings, have returned home after a short visit to Palmerston North. Miss. PI.-,- Godwin, of Palmerston North, is spending a holiday in Rotorua and is staying with Mrs R. PI. Godwin.

Mr , and Mrs , Howard Phillips, of Bryant Street, have as their guest Petty-Officer R. G. Tatchett, whose engagement to Miss Peggy Phillips was announced recently. Miss Isabel Biggar, niece of Sir Harry Batterbee, Pligh Commissioner for the United Kingdom, will leave for Auckland on Friday on the first stage of her return journey to England.

Mrs S. T. Bristow, who has been transferred from the staff of the Kolut Kohu School, North Auckland, is spending a few days in Palmerston Nortlrprior to taking up her now position at Awapuni, near Gisborne. An enjoyable reunion dinner. attended by 44 school dental nurses from all parts ‘of the Dominion, was held in Wellington last night; on the eve of the opening of .the new dental clinic. Among .those present were Mrs Green and Miss L. Wimsett, of Palmerston North, and Miss J. Urquhart, of Foxton.

Advice has hecn received by Miss Gwen Gibbs, of Palmerston North, district organiser for the Royal Academy of Dancing (New Zealand branch), from Miss Joan Horne, of Wellington, New Zealand organiser, that on the recommendation of Miss Tv. Danetrce, who visited New Zealand as an examiner a year or so ago, the Royal Academy of Dancing, London, had agreed to grant a scholarship to New Zealand members. The first award will be made after the visit of the examiner from England in 1941.
