RULE FROM ENGLAND

DUTCH GOVERNMENT. TRAITORS IN NETHERLANDS ' MORE REVELATIONS. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph. —Copyright.) Received May 10, 5.5 a.m. LONDON, May 14. The Dutch Prime Minister (Jonkheer de Geer) and members of his Government have arrived in London. Queen Wilhelinina and her Government will continue to exercise all power from England. The Dutch East Indies are governed as previously, though the Gov-ernor-General and Government are maintaining contact with Holland through New York. Direct communications at present are unsatisfactory. The Netherlands Legation in London stated that Queen Willielmiiia firmly intended never to leave her country, but Cabinet, ' knowing the Germans were closing in to effect her capture, advised her to go to Zeeland. Meanwhile, news was received that the Germans had started bombarding her destination, whereupon in the knowledge that she could better serve her country from a place outside the fighting area, Queen Wilhelniina accepted Their Majesties’ generous offer of hospitality About three hundred refugees went to London with the Netherlands Government. The Dutch Minister in London (Count Stirum) told the Australian Associated Press that there was no end of the German treachery. Dutch soldiers had been snot down by parachute troops disguised as Sisters of Mercy. “The activities of the ‘fifth column’ are an awful thing,” said the Minister. “There is the daily spectacle of Dutchmen stabbing Dutchmen. The Dutch National Socialists have .proved dastardly traitors, although they have always avowed allegiance to Queen Wilhelniina. “A captured German general had in liis possession a list of names of personages whom the German High Command ordered to be shot on sight. This list was apparently supplied from within Holland.”

At least 600 British subjects evacuated from Holland have arrived in England. They declared that the scenes of bombings in Holland were horrible. On one occasion 200 bombers were in the air simultaneously, all dropping salvoes. The Grand Duchess and Prince Felix of Luxembourg and their children have arrived in Paris.

(From Daventry.) The Netherlands Prime Minister and other menibers of the Cabinet travelled in the greatest secrecy, only a few officials being at the station to meet them. All the 11 members of the Cabinet made the channel crossing in a British warship. The news that Queen Wilhelniina and members of the Dutch Government were in London was given to the Dutch people this morning. A statement issued at The Hague said the Dutch people would be reassured by tlie knowledge that their Queen remained safe. Though the state of affairs was uncertain, the people were requested not to draw any alarming deduction from the Queen s movement or that of the Government. FAITH IN FUTURE. QUEEN’S PROCLAMATION. AYILL REGAIN TERRITORY. (British Official Wireless.) Received Mav 15. 9.47 a.m. RUGBY, May 14. Queen Wilhelniina has issued a proclamation from London to the Netherlands people. “Once it had become certain that we and our Ministers could not continue freely to exercise supreme authority in the Netherlands, the hard but necessary decision had to be taken to transfer abroad the seat of government for as long as is unavoidable, and with the intention to re-establish themselves at once in the Netherlands as soon as this could appear at all practicable,” stated Her Majesty. “The Government are now in England. They are not prepared as the Government to capitulate, consequently the Netherlands territory remaining in our hands in Europe, as well as in the East and West Indies, continues to be a sovereign State able to assert its place as a full member of the community of States, and, in particular, in the joint deliberations of the Allies. The military authorities, and, in the last resort, the Cominanders-in-Chief of the sea and land forces now have to decide wliat measures it is necessary to take from the military point of view in those parts of the country where Germany has now established domination. The "local civil authorities should continue to do all they can in the interests of the population and, in the first place, help the maintenance of order. “Our heart goes out towards our compatriots who, in our beloved country, will have to pass through hard times. In due course, however, with God’s help, the Netherlands will regain its European territory. “Remember the calamities which have occurred in past centuries and the repeated resurrection of our country! That will take place again! Do not despair 1 Let all do wliat is possible for them to do in the interests of their country. We are doing all we can. Long live the Netherlands !”
