KAIRANGA COUNTY.
i MEETING OF COUNCIL. The Kairanga County Council met yesterday, when there were present: Crs W. R. Hopcroft (chairman). F. J. Russell, N. P. Nielsen, AT. W. A r oss, D. Co 11 is, P. V. Koehler, W. G. Shannon and J. Batehelar. A resolution, previously passed, to exempt Long Milford Road from the provision of the Public Works Act was rescinded in accordance with notice of motion given by the chairman. The resolution was declared invalid because it contained a reference to a building line. It was decided to hold the matter ever till a fresh resolution is framed by a solicitor. The financial statement showed a credit balance at the bank at May 14 of £3940 16s 2d in the county fund No. 1 account. In the course of his report the engineer (Air L. C. Pickering) stated that the widening •of Stoney Creek Road, in the Alangaone riding, had been completed and metalled. . The engineer also reported that, an application had been made for subsidised labour under the. No. 13 scheme, and a reply had been received saving that the council could carry on With such work in the' meantime.-' - ' The Palmerston North City Council wrote asking if; the Kairanga Council intended to relieve it of payment in ! the future of the annual charge of £4 for the use of the bridge •at Tiritea, as the City Council had paid this for many years. It was decided not to accede to the request. IT lie ranger reported that 61 head of stock- had been' found straving on county roads.. ■ :
