ALIEN CONTROL.

MEASURES IN BRITAIN. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, May 12. The temporary internment of all German and Austrian males between 16 and 60 who are in a prescribed area has been authorised by the Home Sec-r retary. The area to which the .measure 1 applies comprises the eastern half, of Britain trom Morayshire to the Isle of Wight, but excludes the Metropolitan Police District. An additional order has also been made imposing an obligation on all alien men other than Germans and Austrians between lb and 60 living in the prescribed area to report daily to the police. They are also forbidden to use bicycles or private motor vehicles, and are not allow* ed out between 8 p.m, and 6 a.m. in publishing tnese restrictions, the Home Office states: “These measures are to be considered measures of urgency applied to areas where for military reasons special precautions are required tor the time being. It .is recognised and much regretted that these necessary measures will involve a period of great hardship in individual eases. Those persons affected by them, and who are in fact faithful to the vital interests of this country, will give the best proof of their attitude by submitting freely and uncomplainingly to the restrictions which the exigencies of the situation for the moment require. It is intended that the rigour of these measures be miti gated as soon as the circumstances permit.’’ , According to agency messages, ,t,he first ship bringing British, French, Dutch and Belgian people from Holland arrived on Sunday morning. A special train brought them to London.
