SITUATION IMPROVES.
OFFICIAL SUMMARY. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, May 12. A French official communique states: “The situation in Holland improved to-day. The Royal Air Force are giving vigorous support to the Dutch defences. ‘'ln Belgium, enemy attacks continue west of Maastricht and into the Tongres district. The attacks are greatly hindered by the action of Allied aviators bombing bridges in the Maastricht region and enemy columns, which have suffered heavy losses. The advance of our troops in Central Belgium continues normally. “The enemy attacked our advanced posts between the Forest of Warndt and the Saar. There is nothing of importance to report on the eastern part of the frontier between the Saar and the Swiss frontier. German aircraft have been very active, especially in North-Eastern France. They have been counter-attacked by our antiaircraft and the Allied air forces, some thirty enemy aircraft having been brought down during the day. It will be noted that of the German aircraft brought down, during May 10 and II some thirty were shot down by antiaircraft fire.” The successful advance of the. British Expeditionary Force into Belgium in j conjunction with the French Forces is continuing as planned. Minor encounters between our cavalry and the enemy have ended to our advantage.
