Men zies) last night issued ail appeal to Australians .to sink their differences, close tlie ranks, and stand behind the Government. He declared the position in Europe was of the greatest gravity, constituting a powerful challenge to the British Empire. ‘(There are no strikes in Germany to-day. There ate no controversies about the incidence of taxation,” declared Mr Menzies. “The whole German nation is bent on clearing the way for the domination of the world; Who can doubt that our fate will turn upon the victory or defeat of Holland or Belgium? We are going ahead with the raising of troops and the accelerated production of munitions.”
