LINTON.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) LINTON, Alay 13. The friends of Miss R. Tottman, infant mistress for tho past four years at the Linton School, gathered recently to. bid her farewell as she has been appointed io a school in Hastings, Tho time was spent in dancing. Among those - present were: Air and Airs Tottman and Air D. Tottnlan, of Palmerston North. Air R. Beckett, in the absence of the chairman (Air P. Lynch), spoke of the high esteem in which Aliss Tottman was held by the Linton people and also expressed the regret all felt at her departure. Ho asked Miss Tottman to accept a travelling rug and a crystal vase, with best wishes from her Linton friends. Airs T. Lynch, cn behalf of the Women’s Institute, presented Miss Tottman with an autumn-shaded bouquet and a book entitled “Pioneer Women.” Aliss Tottman returned thanks, musical honours were sung and cheers followed. Mr F. J. Batchelar carried out the duties of AI.C.

Airs and Aliss Laurenscn, of Wellington, have been the guests of Air and Mrs J. Batchelar and Air and Airs A. Batchelar. Airs 0. Terry is ou holiday in Wellington. Mr and Mrs W. Gilliland are spending a holiday in Napier. Mrs Quinn has been tho guest of Airs T. D. Lynch. Tho friends of Airs W. Algio will be pleased to hear that she hopes to leave hospital this week after undergoing an operation. Air J. Paterson is seriously ill in . Palmerston North Hospital.
