AMATEUR CYCLING.
On Saturday the Palmerston North Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club held its second road race of the season (a restricted gear race; and, considering the small gear, fast times were registered bv the back-markers, Donovan and Wilson. Archer was first away and was still in the lead about four miles from the finish. Fisher on the way to Awaliuri dropped his comarker, Hansen, about two miles out and nearing the turning point he passed Graham and went into the lead after passing Archer. Campbell, who was riding alone, was passed by the virtual scratch men, Wilson and Donovan, Hazelwood having been dropped. Tho small gear did not suit Campbell and Hazelwood, who made a practice ride of it and finished together. Nearing the finish Wilson and Donovan caught Fisher, and in the sprint for | the line Wilson was over for first place and fastest time. The following; arc the placings r E. Wilson (2min) 1, H.
