Mrs Cyril King, of Fitzherbert Avenue, has returned home from Taupo. Miss Nelle Scanlan, of Wellington, spent the week-end. with her sister, Mrs T. J. Rodgers.-of Church Street, and attended the Repertory Society’s production, “Lovers’ Leap,” on Saturday night. Former pupils of Queen Margaret College, who visited Wellington for the twenty-first birthday celebrations ]a6t week, included Mrs R. Scott (Kiwitea). Mrs F. Mitchell (Kiwitea), Mrs B. Masters (Mt. Biggs), Mrs R. Humphrey (Makino) and Mrs B. Kyle (Otaki). New Zealand’s oldest Salvation Army mother, Mrs A. Jacobson, aged 92, spoke' at a Mothers’ Day service at the Salvation Army Citadel, Wellington, yesterday. She was born in Wellington in 1848, when the infant city was little more than a beach settlement, barely recovered front the ordeal of. the Hutt wars.. Mrs Jacobson gave reminiscences of her 50 years’ association with the Salvation. Army. During the service, she was presented with a bouquet of white flowers. Mrs M. H. Oram, of. Featlierston Street, has returned s home from Wellington, accompanied by her mother; Mrs. H. Johnson, who, her friends in Balmerston North will be glad to learn, has recovered from her illness. Mr and Mrs Oram have received news bv cable that their daughter, Miss Valerie Oram, who is studying dancing at the Ripman School, London, has completed her examinations for the Imperial Society of Dancing. Miss Oram had previously passed in ballet and Greek dancing, her two final subjects being stage and ballroom dancing. She has been absent from New Zealand close on two years.
