“LOVERS’ LEAP.”

A modern setting, modern dressing, modern dialogue, experienced players, a generous sprinkling of humour—these are the ingredients of a “cocktail” called entertainment of the most satisfying typo. This, entertainment is. called “Lovers’ Leap” the most delightful comedy which the Manawatu Repertory Society players .arc presenting in the Empire Hall to-night, and also on Monday and Tuesday noxt. Mr F. Cousins, a local producer of well known capabilities in this direction, lias had a small but 'experienced cast to work with, and with Miss Mavis Mortland as “Helen Storer,” Mr G. Driver as “Roger Stofer,” her husband, who just, walked out oho night “saying lie was taking the dog for a walk” and did not. turn up for seven years, and Miss Babctte Rodgers as her sister “Sarah Traille,” who chooses to regard her family’s matrimonial mix-ups as a warning against, marriage, and Dr. A. do Bary, (as “Cedric' Nqrreys”) who cndcavpurs with amusing failure to convince Sarah of her mistaken idea, •it is a cast which will provide diverting . entertainment for its audience. The amusing situations, fho unreasonable arguments, which’to the oillookers arc so amusing, yet so exasperating to those participating, the utterly unexpected ending, all promise well for tho first repertory production of 1940. Tho booking is at Messrs Coilinson and Cuiininghauie's.
