(From Our Own Correspondent.) UTUWAI May 8.

At the May meeting of the Women’s In stitute numerous apologies for absence were received. Remits for the Dominion conference in Wellington were discussed. A letter was read from the link in Sussex. It was interesting to hear of the activities of that institute in war work. As Mrs Dymock was at the last minute unable to attend to give her address, Mr Ilirshberg gave an interesting talk on the places which would be visited and the sights which would be seen by the New Zealand forces on their voyage to and after their landing at Egypt. Ho illustrated his address with a number of photographs. Mrs Adlington read an excellent report on the Oroua Council held recently at Feilding. Mrs Billet and. Mrs Batchelor acted as hostesses. The travelling shilling competition was won by Mrs Forbes. The points competitions were won as follows-Girdle scones, Mrs McEweu 1, Mis Billctt 2. Miss Davis 5; rose, Mrs McEwen 1, Mrs Billet 2, Mrs Batchelar 3; red beet, Mrs Batchelar 1, Mrs Elavell 2, Mrs Billet 3. , Miss M. Cheyne has been on holiday in Wellington. Mr and Mrs E. Buckman and Mr and Mrs P. Jensen have returned from a visit to Wellington. Mrs R. Cheyne and Mrs A. Haynes recently spent a holiday at Wellington and Levin. Mi and Mrs M. Nesdale have returned from a visit to the Exhibition. .
