A RECIPE.

FROSTED APPLE PUDDING. Take 9oz self-raising flour, pinch salt, 1 pint milk, 2 eggs, lilb apples, castor sugar for the top. Sift flour and salt into basin, break eggs into middle and stir in the milk by degrees, beating thoroughly. Peel and slice apples. Melt sonic lard or dripping in a fireproof dish (china or glass) or baking tin, put in the apples and pour batter over them. Bake in a moderate oven for 35 to 40 minutes until nicely brown. Serve dredged with fine sugar. Do not add sugar to batter, as it will make it heavy. Half quantity fills a shallow fireproof glass dish nine inches in diameter.
