(From Our Own Correspondent.) FAN SON, May 9. At the monthly meeting of- the Women’s Institute, Mrs W. E. Pearce presided. Mrs Pearce expressed the institute’s regret at the misfortune which had befallen two of the members and wished them a speedy recovery. After the business had been attended to the president asked Mrs Roberts to present the report of the annual meeting of the Oroua Federation held in Feilding, at which she was the institute delegate. The competitions for tho next meeting will be: Article made from a sugar bag, and best bloom. The competitions for the evening were: Pickled onions, Mrs Bishop 1, Mrs Drew 2, Mrs Adams 3; bloom, Mrs Rowan 1, Mrs Richardson 2, Mrs York 3. . The Methodist Church celebrated its anniversary on Sunday last and this Was followed on Monday by a sacred concert rendered by tho choir of the Rongotea Church, augmented by other helpers In addition to a number of anthems, tho programme included two male quartettes, a duet bv tho Misses M. and J. Masters, a solo by Miss Erie Berkahn, and recitations by Miss Phvllis Hill. Mrs Cl. S. Hamlin presided at the organ. At the conclusion, Rev. C, M. Roberts thanked the visitors for the great help thev had given. The Sanson Tennis Club held a dance on Wednesday evening in aid of the Fighting Services Appeal. The president of the club (Mr K. Pearce) thanked all who had assisted, especially tho lady captain (Miss J. Davey) and others. lie presented Mr A. Matthews with the Nicol Star. Some of the ladies present were: Mesdames E. Masters, cyclamen taffeta; N. Masters, black velvet; B. Terry, pink georgette; N. Avery, rose pink taffeta; J. Btitler, mulberry lace over satin; M. Butler, midnight blue stencilled romaine; V. Butler, pink ninon over satin: N. Waugh (Palmerston North), black taffeta and net; 11. Winton. gold satin; M. Borkahn, white and cerise moire taffeta; J. Davey, bins satin and net; L. Fioldhouse (Ron proton), mauve taffeta; P. Meyer, black taffeta; L. Lumsden, mauve taffeta; M. Murphy (Palmerston North), gold net over satin; D. Campbell, floral satin; N. Dear (Rongotea), green taffeta; .W. Lawrence (ML Biggs), blue taffeta; S. Brace, pink taffeta and white fur coat; B. Gibbons (Carnarvon), mauve taffeta and white fur coat; D.
