VOROSHILOV REPLACED. MOSCOW, May S. The Tass Agency says that Marshal Voroshilov, the Defence Commissar, has been replaced by Marshal Semyon Timoshenko, commander of the Kiev military district. Marshal Voroshilov has been appointed assistant chairman of the Council of Commissars and chairman of the council’s defence, committee.
During the civil war in Russia which followed 'the Revolutimi of tho previous year Marshal Voroshilov was the commander of a detachment of Red soldiers engaged against the White Army, In 1925 he was elected Commissar of l*ar, and in 1933 was created marshal when ranks and stripes were reinstated by Stalin. He was one of five marshals appointed at that time.
