SOLICITOR GENERAL.
DEATH IN ENGLAND. (British Official Wireless.) Received May 9, 9,37 a.m. RUGBY, May 8. The death is announced of Sir Terence O’Connor, Solicitor-General since 1936, aged 49. He had been Conservative member for Central Nottingham since 1930. Before the debate in the House oi Commons opened the Premier (Mr Chamberlain) expressed the grief which would be felt at the news of Sir lerence O’Connor’s death by the House, in all parts of which he had many friends. Mr Chamberlain also referred to -the death of Mr G. Lansbury which, he said, would be sincerely regretted on all sides, for there was no member who was more widely respected or who had won more universal affection.
Sir Terence O’Connor served in flic Groat War with the Highland Livht In'fretry and the West African Front-er Force. He was called to the Bar in 1919 and was appointed a bencher of the Inner Temple in 1936. From 1924-29 lie was M.P. for Luton. In 1929 he was appointed a King’s Counsel.
