TEACHING POSITIONS.

NEW ARRANGEMENTS MADE. The Wanganui Education Board has been advised by the Education Department that new arrangements have been made for filling vacancies created by permanent teachers being granted leave to join the military forces. “Up to the present these positions have been filled by relieving teachers, resulting in frequent changes of staff,” said the secretary of the board (Mr G. N. .Boulton) yesterday. “The new arrangements provide that for certain positions the board may advertise the temporary vacancies in the senior positions and appoint teachers for the duration of the war, these teachers receiving an allowance in addition to their present salaries to make them up to the permanent salary for the position. This will overcome the necessity for frequent changes in staffs.”
