FULL INVESTIGATION.

BURWOOD DISMISSALS. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, May 7. A full investigation into allegations against No. 13 Scheme workers at Burwood golf course will be made by Mr S. Ritchie (Conciliation Commissioner) on behalf of the Minister of Labour (Hon. P. C. Webb). The inquiry was to ha’ve begun last week, said the Minister, but it was postponed because Mr Ritchie had to go to Auckland as chairman of the tribunal to interpret the wages clause in the tramway workers’ award. “If injustice has been done to the men it will be righted,” said Mr Webb. “Likewise, if it is proved that there are men on the job who should not be there they will go.” Workers claimed that they had been grievously maligned by allegations of misconduct and theft, and it was only fair that any charges of injustice to them should be fully investigated, Mr Webb said. “When Mr Semple dismissed workers at the golf course in a body he was acting on charges in which lie had every reason to have confidence. “When Mr Ritchie returns from Auckland he will make an inquiry and submit his report to me,” said the Minister.
