TEST NOT PROPOSED
NO LABOUR MOTION. FIELD DAY IN COMMONS. (From Daventry.) It lias been something of a field day in the House of Commons on the first day of the debate on Norway. The Labour Opposition do not intend to table a motion of no-confidence in the Government, which it is felt would serve no useful purpose. So far the debate has been left wholly to the critics, with the vast body of Government supporters content to stand aside, but ready to go to the lobbies in the event of a division being called. It is felt that critieics from the Government’s own ranks will gather no more than a mere handful of supporters, but if another reverse were to be sustained in the next two months it is felt that the criticism being voiced might prove serious. The speakers on the second day of the debate will include Mr Lloyd George and Mr L. Hore-Belisha (former War Minister), both critics of the Government’s policy, and Mr Churchill will wind up the debate in defence of tho Government. The opinion in London is that the debate, far from a sign of disillusionment, is an indication of alertness. ' • !
