Territorial Ranks Depleted. Mr T. L. Seddon, Mayor, stated on Monday, that the ranks of the Territorial unit in Feilding had become depleted owing to enlistments and other causes. Young men between the ages of 18 and 35 years were needed to keep up the strength of this important unit of home defence. The work was interesting and instructive, and the physical and social sides were not being left out, he added. Local Patriotic Fund. The local Patriotic Fund has received donations amounting to £lB6 16s 7d, out of which £64 15s 5d has been spent on farewells, presentations and i the purchase of comforts supplied' through the ladies’ sub-committee. The following are the most recent donaI tions : —lv. Begg, S. E. Harris and S. J. Newman ; “grazing” per D. Stewart, A.M.A.; C. E. Taylor; A.D.; T. L. Seddon; “Mahjong”; sale of sheep, per A. and P. Association. Borougi'i Revaluation. . The town clerk (Mr C. H. Tate) announces that several objections to the new valuations of properties have been lodged, and a sitting of an Assessment- Court will be required to deal with these. As a result of the protests being lodged the council cannot proceed with its estimates or the striking of its rates for the current year until the Assessment Court has sat. It is J therefore the intention of the council '■ to apply for an early hearing.
