WHAKARONGO YOUNG FARMERS.

The Whakarongo Young Farmers’ Club held their second annual parents’ and friends’ evening at the Whakarongo Hall recently. There was a good attendance of members and over fifty visitors. Musical items and songs were followed by motion pictures presented by Mr S. Freeman, the Dominion secretary. At a later date the club held its second annual ball, a large number of dancers attending. Miss L. Major, of the Broadway School of Dancing, judged a waltz and a foxtrot competition. On April 23 a team comprising Messrs B. Dickson, E. Morris, P. Cater, N. Speedy and E. Hodgson, competed in a lug-o-war competition at Bunnythorpe. After beating Haleombo and Kairanga they were in turn defeated by Apiti.
