LAND DRAINAGE.

MANAWATU BOARD." A meeting of the Manawatu Drainage Board was held yesterday, Trustee P. G. Mildon presiding. The other members present were Trustees J. Collis, H. R. Green, W. E. Thomas, E. J. Russell, R. Tanner and C. H. Prouse. It was decided to meet Mr J. Devine on his property and discuss the reconstruction of a bridge there. The letting of further drain contracts was confirmed. In regard to the erection of a floodgate oil Mr Barrell’s property, Trustee Russell, who had interviewed Mr Burrell, said that the latter considered the erection of the floodgate wa6 a matter for the board. During a discussion the overseer stated that there were jio men available to. do the work at present. The matter was left to Trustee llussell to explain this to Mr Burrell.

The financial statement presented to the board showed that there was a credit balance of £1832 15s 7d at the Bank of New Zealand at to-day’s date. Of rates for the past - five years outstanding £ll 19s 6d had been paid, leaving £l3O 4s Id outstanding to date.

The overseer (Mr M. Wilson) reported on general work done and stated that good progress was being made with contract works.
