WORK AT AWAPUNI. HEAVY TRACK FOR GALLOPS. (By “Spectator.”) Recent rain made the track very heavy and muddy at Awapuni this morning, when some horses wore being prepared for the Otaki-Maori Club’s meeting. The flags were wide out on the course proper. The plough was not fit for use. ICincora and Hunting Lore covered five furlongs in 1.12. Clarion Call, who is none the worse for his race at Hawcra, did a working gallop and was then jogged round on the firmer ground on the inside of the track. Two of the Laughing Prince youngsters in the stable of L. G. Morris were galloped over three furlongs, covering this distance in 44sec., the last two in 28 sec. Colonel Bogey and Aurora’s Star were companions over seven furlongs, the time being 1.41. The last' six were covered in 1.26. Brazil and Harbour Bar were sent over a similar distance, taking 1.42, the last six being done in 1.28. Don Quex was given a gallop over six furlongs, and Spotting' Gift was work ed over five. Catalogue was jogged round the course and then went round again at half pace. Selkirk and Renascor went together ovel a mile in slow time, Renascor being ir. front at the finish. Aurora’s Love also had a mile task. Clossform was not started at ITawera hut was worked again this, morning. Inform, who will start in her first race at the Otaki-Maori meeting, was also worked. Francis Drake and Ainyas Leigh covered six furlongs, the last five taking 1.12. , Mick the Miller and Ruafonn were worked over a mile, and Gold Chase was also given a good long gallop. Quadroon and Moradabad came home over four furlongs in 56sec. The former will start at the Otaki meeting and is in good order. RIDING ENGAGEMENTS. Riding engagements for the Otaki meeting are: W. J.
