■ MARTON, May 4. The first round of a Stableford bogey competition for a trophy donated by Mr A. Way was played on Saturday, on the Hawkestone golf links. The best cards handed in were: M. Atkinson 37, S. Coebol 35. L. Chainey 34, R. McDonald 34, R. Todd 33, J. Clark 33, L. Ambrose 32. P. Gronn 31, L. Campbell 30. In the ladies’ section the L.G.U. results. last week were: Miss D. Whale, 106 —36—70: Miss T. McDonald, 106 —26 —80; Mrs AVilliams, 108 — 28—80. . In a Rugby football match played at Rala on Saturday, the Old Boys,. senior team beat the homo side by 8 points to 6. For Old Boys, A. Marshall scored a try which A. Duncan converted and .Duncan kicked a penalty goal. T. Hartley and C. Adams scored tries for Rata. In the junior game played at Marton, Old Boys beat Rata by 12 points to 10. Tries were scored for Old Boys by Ridley and M. Griffon, J. Hutton converting one and also kicking a field goal. Rata’s points came from a try by Ruben and a penalty and field goal by C. Green. ,
