S.P.C.A.
The monthly meeting of the Feilding branch of the S.P.C.A. was held on Friday, Mr G. Coleman presiding. It was stated that there had been no further progress made in connection, with the effort to have a drinking trough installed on Sandon Road. A letter was received from the Trade Commissioner for Australia, at present in Wellington, stating that in Australia no calf under 12 days may he sold for slaughter and that no cases of cruelty to calyps had been notified in Australia. In connection with the bobby calf trade in New Zealand, further information is being sought. A donation of £1 was received with thanks from “Animal Lover.” Mr Lee, inspector, reported that he had visited the various’yards, and had found conditions satisfactory. ■ Six animals had been destroyed. Subscriptions were received from Mrs Salmond, Mr Smitlievs, Miss Smithers, Mrs Hinks, Mr Darragh, Miss Hickmott, Miss Piggott, Mrs McKenzie, Mrs Alne, Mrs Craig, Miss Sinclair Mrs Tclfcr, Miss Root, and Messrs Collins and Coleman.
