PERSONAL; Mr and Mrs H. P. Horne, of Vogel Street, have returned from a visit to Napier. ' ' •Mr and Mrs Caddigan, of Oringi Downs, who have been visiting Mr and Mrs W. J. Wilson and Mr and Mrs E. IT. Giles, of Woodville, left on a visit to Hastings on Friday. On the occasion of his retirement, recently, from the Post and Telegraph Department, after 40 years’ service, Mr G. J. Nicholas, postmaster at Mauurewa, who is a son of Sir and . Mrs J. Nicholas, of Ormond Street,,Woodville, was the recipient of a presentation' in the Manurewa Council Chambers. The Mayor (Mr W. J. Ferguson), on behalf of the townspeople, made the presentation of a set of bowls and expressed regret at losing such a valuable man as Mr Nicholas, who always had The interests, of the district at heart. Mr F. Barnard and 'Mr J. Murray on behalf of the business people, endorsed the Mayor’s remarks and said it was with great regret they learnt of Mr Nicholas’s retirement; Mr L. Ayling spoke on behalf of the Athletic Club. Mr Nicholas entered the department at Woodville. ■ y
