At. a meeting of residents' held R cIU cuss the Ballancc School jubilee, Mr J. H Bromucr presided. Committees iormou wore: Entertainment, roll, catering and re coption committees, the executive to consist of the jubilco chairman, and jubilee secretary, together with 'the finance coinniitt.ee and the chairman and secretary of each ether committee. It was decided to extend ihe celebrations over a Sunday by tlio addition of a thanksgiving service. YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB. One of the members of this learn, Mr George Colter, of the Manga tainoka Young Farmers’ Club, won the cup for judging boe.f cattle with a Acting Farmers’ Club record of 175 points out of a possible 180. RUGBY FOOTBALL. In the Ivonini v. Nireaha match, played at Rugby Park. I’ahialua, the teams wore: Konini.—R. Crcad, N. Mahoy, G. Eddie, G. Smith, R. Mathews, M. Harris L. Barraclough. B. Smith (captain), .A. \\ art, K Brown, C. Brown, A. Vcrry, vary,. F. Jensen, A. Mahoney. . Nireaha. —C. Goss, *L. Washington, J. Sigvel'tsen, D. Payne, R, Lawrence (captain), M. Petersen. E. Goss. H. Goss, L. Hansen, L. Goss, W. Davidson, B. Davidson, J. Baiickc, F. Sigvcrtscn, C. Gum Nireaha took the kick off, but B. Smith gathered in and after a side-stepping run opened the score for Konini. The conversion kick failed. Konini again attacked but were soon driven back to their own territory. Harris and C. Smith were featured in a spectacular dash for the lino which resultec( in Smith crossing • t.ho line. B Smith failed to convert.- Konini took the ball down at their feet and , Eddie scored under the posts. C. Brown s luck at goal failed. In the second half play became, mere ragged and it. was not until late ill the spell that Mathews dashed across the line near the grandstand corner. Mahoney failed to find the uprights. C. Brown rail for Nircaha's goal line and passed to B. Smith, who went over. Mahoney, took (ho kick but failed to convert, Nireaha tried bard to score in the final stage of the game but. the whistle went with the score at 15-nil in Ivonini’s favour. Mr E. Matson refereed.
