ST. ANDREW’S MEN’S CLUB.
The St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Men’s Club held its first monthly meeting of the 1940 season recently, when there was an attendance of about _BO members and friends. The retiring chairman (Mr A. M. Laseelles) reported that steady progress had been made last year, membership and attendances being well maintained. He anpealed for increasing enthusiasm -in the coming year. The treasurer staffed that the . year had concluded, with a credit balance of 11s. Officers elected were :—President, Mr P. D. Clark; vice-president, Mr D. G. McLennan; secretary and treasurer, v Mr J. Mitchell; committee, Messrs H. McKenzie, J. It. Hughes, F. G. Opie and T. Williams; lesson reader. Mr H. F. Wilson; pianist, Mr C. Teppett; song lender,'Mr T. P. Henderson. Community singing was led by Mr Henderson; steel guitar items were given by Mr A. Suudborn and vocal solos by Mr G. M. Whiteloclc, with Mr Teonett at the piano. , - . The speaker was Rev. Dr. J. G. Inkster, of Toronto, Canada, who is at present acting as minister at St. John’s Presbyterian Church at Wellington. In an interesting and -.thoughtprovoking talk Dr Inkster declared that no human being could solve the immense problems, facing _ to-days world. In liis own view only in Christ s return to earth, bringing peace and harmony among tho nations, lay the solution to the problems. 'The speaker traced briefly the seven ages of time from tlie Garden of lid on to the piesent age of grace which, in the light of prophecy, was, in the speaker’s opinion, drawing near its end, bringing great tribulation among all unbelievers: On the motion of Mr W. 8.-Tennent, Dr Inkster was thanked for his address. .
