’ Miss Phyllis Mules, daughter of Dr and Mrs P. H. Mules, of McLean Street, who was a debutante at the Marsden School dance in Wellington on Friday, wore a gown of white chiffon, with a ruched bodice and very full skirt, and a matching short-sleeved bolero. She was presented by Mrs John Redmond, who wore multi-coloured black check taffeta with a full stiffened skirt in pannier effect. Mr and Mrs H. P. Horne, of Vogel Street, have returned from a visit to Napier. Mr and Mrs Caddigan, of Oringi Downs, who have been visiting Mr and Airs W. J. Wilson and Air and Airs E. H. Giles, of AVoodville, left on a visit to Hastings on Friday. On tlie occasion of his retirement, recently, from the Post and Telegraph Department, alter 40 years’ service. Mr G. J. Nicholas, postmaster at Alanurewa, who is a son of Air and Airs J. Nicholas, of .Ormond Street, Woodville, was the recipient of a presentation in tlie Alaniirewa Council Chambers. The Mayor (Air W. J. Ferguson), on behalf of thd townspeople, made tlie presentation of a set of bowls and expressed regret at losing such a valuable man as Arr Nicholas, who always had tlie interests of the district at heart; Air F. Barnard and Air J. Murray on behalf of tlie business people, endorsed the Alayor’s remarks and said it was with great regret they learnt of Air Nicholas’s retirement. Air L. Ayling spoke on behalf of the Athletic ‘Club. Air Nicholas, entered tho department at AVoodville.
