HAVOC BY BOMBS.
MORE SUCCESS TO It.A.F. NAZI LINES CUT. LONDON, May 2. The Royal Air Force daylight raid on Stavanger tore up a stretch of two hundred yards of runway. Bombs rained on the whole of the aerodrome and set ablaze stationary ’planes. The night raiders started many fires in the aerodrome and woods where ’planes were concealed. Intense anti-aircraft fire was encountered. At Fornebu the raiders scored numerous hits. They started four large fires at Aalborg. They inflicted heavy damage, but no casualties resulted from any of the raids. The Stockholm correspondent of the Times says the explanation of the German retreat from Roros appears to be that the German communications were cut at Rena, twenty miles northwest from Elverum. British bombers are reported to be active for the first time at Narvik raiding the German positions on the beach. German fighters and bombers are also operating.
