VIGOROUS ATTACKS

GERMAN FORCES UNDER FIRE. GREAT BATTLES IN SOUTH. (Unitedg>Press Association —By Electric 1 clegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, May 2. Taking advantage of the draining-off of Germans for the final DombasStoren push, the Norwegians are vigorously counter-attacking in the; Ostcr Valiev from Roros almost to Elverum. The Norwegians at Roros, fighting along the Osterdal railway and road south-eastward,, encountered determined German rearguard resistance at Os, where German ’planes swooped to do battle with cannon and machine-gun fire- _ Other Norwegians struck at the German lines at Lilieelvedalen and Amaat. The Norwegians are reported to he confident also of breaking the communications at Storen. The Germans admit that isolated nests of resistance remain throughout Southern Norway. The terrain favours guerrilla tactics, for which reason the mopping-up process will be lengthy. GERMAN BOAST. “In unresting pursuit of the wildly fleeing English, the German troops have reached Andalsnes, and raised the Reich, war flag at if p.m.” Thus the German High Command trumpeted the evacuation. The Germans claim the capture of. enormous quantities of materials, munitions, vehicles, and mules. Swedish sources stated that German ’planes continuously bombed and machine-gunned the districts ol Namsos and Grong (east of Namsos) between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
