TWO LABOUR PARTIES.

REFERENCE AT CANBERRA. CANBERRA, May 2. When announcing the formation of the new ‘‘'Anti-Communist Labour Party of New South Wales,” Mr Beasley, who will lead this group of four in the House of Representatives, was greeted with derisive cheers from his fellow Labour members who constitute the official Opposition. A Government supporter, Mr Lane, asked the Speaker whether the House was to assume that the Labour Party was split in two and henceforth would be known as the non-Communist bloc and the Communist bloc. After this, the Labour Leader (Mr J. Curtin) asked the Speaker whether it was his intention to give Mr Beasley the status of a party leader. The Speaker replied: “1 feel I should do as in the past, when there was another party (Lang Party), I am hound to recognise him as a leader.”
