SINKING OF U-BOAT. DESTROYER IIAAIAGED. WEST FRONT QUIET. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received May 3, 11.30 a.in PARIS, May 2. A French official communique states: “There is activity of contact units. An encounter between patrols in the Vosges was turned to our advantage. “During operations in the North Sea one of our destroyers was seriously damaged and one of our patrol ships has been sunk by a mine. On the other hand, one of our submarines torpedoed an enemy submarine.” French sources report continual German troop movements through the Rhineland towards Hamburg, Bremen and Denmark. (From Daventry.) It is only the second time since the war began that the teat of a submarine sinking a U-boat has been accomplished. On the lormer occasion a British craft accounted for a U-boat.
