St. Patrick’s annual dance, held in the Women’s Institute He.'l on Wednesday, though not as well attended as
usual, proved quite enjoyable. Several competition dances were included in the programme, the winners being: Monte Carlo .waltz, Mr O. Miller and Miss V Miller; lucky spot one-step, Mr E. Hanaray and Miss E. Birss. Extras were.played by Miss V. Miller (Auckland) and Mr L. Spelman. Mr P. Miller was M.C. The Woodville Anglers’ Club report* that the heaviest fish caught by a mem- , her during the season was one weighing 21b 12oz, officially weighed in on Tue*day by Mr J. Mclntyre. Particulars of the vital statistics for April, made available by the deputyregistrar at Woodville (Mr F. J. Williams), show appreciable increases /in births and manages * by comparison with the figures for the- corresponding month of last year. The details, with” figures for April, 1939, in parentheses/ . are: Births, 6 (nil) ; deaths, 1 (2) ; marriages, 4 (1). Teams representing the Woodville Hockey Club will travel to Palnverston North on Saturday to take part in the opening games of the Manawatu association’s competitions, as follow: —Senior A: D.
