i COUNTY COUNCIL. v MONTHLY MEETING. Members present at to-day’s monthly meeting of the AVoodville County Council were Crs. M. O. Grainger (chairman)., It. H. Morgan, AV. Gailoivay, 0. H. Drnce, H. Sheffield, G. Peebles and E. D. Cattanach. Cr. N. Mabey was granted leave of absence. Cr. Cattanach thanked the council for its expression of sympathy in his recent indisposition. A letter thanking the council for its expression of sympathy in his recent iJiness was received from Sir Alfred Ransom, M.P. The Prime Minister (Hon. P. Eraser) wrote thanking the council for its expression of condolence m the death of the late lit. Hon. M. J. Savage. The Commissioner of Transport wrote stating that lie had received a report from the police concerning an accident that had occurred at the intersection of Oxford and Upper A\ roodlands Roads on February 23. In the report it was mentioned that a hedge on the corner obstructed the view of the . drivers concerned. The Commissioner explained that he was referring the r particulars to the council in case some action was considered necessary in the interests of road safety.—The clerk was instructed to write to the Commissioner advising him that the council’s engineer had been instructed to have the. matter attended to. A request from the AVoodville subbranch of the Plunket Society' for a donation towards the maintenance of the rest room received favourable consideration, and on the motion of Cr; Sheffield and Morgan a grant of £S 2s was made. Cr Morgan suggested that the society be requested to forward the council a cojiy of its balancesheet.
