Two months’ imprisonment with hard labour was the sentence imposed on Alexander AlcMillan, on a charge of being intoxicated while in charge of a car when the case was beard before Air E. C. Levvey, S.AI. The Alagistrate pointed out -that AlcMillan had three previous convictions for similar offences. McMillan’s license was cancelled for five years. AVhen James AVallacc was noticed trying to start a motor-car - yesterday afternoon; he was seen to be intoxicated. They key was taken out of the rar and when a constable came along Wallace was sitting in the car, AVallacc was examined by a doctor and found to be unfit to 'drive. These circumstances wore revealed when accused appeared in Court. Wallace, aged 26. of Scotland, admitted charges of being intoxicated in charge of a car and with unlawfully converting to bis own use a car. On the first charge he was convicted and discharged and on the second he was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called on within twelve months. Wallace is a member of . the crew of an overseas boat which sailed to-day. Char'es 'l’. Fre'lcri k Brown, aged 67, a . farmer, was fined £2O on a charge of intoxication while in charge of a |- and bad bis license cancelled lor four years.
