The annual report of the Levin Fire Board . states that there was ohly one major outbreak of fire'during the year, and the total fire loss was £3613 5s 3d. “This may seem high,” continues the report, “but the greater part of the sum .was made up by the Oxford Street fire, when a block of shops was destroyed.”-
