CRICKET.

PRITCHARD’S BOWLING. The complaint that Now Zealand's best fast bowler of the last season, T. L. Pritchard (Manawatu) wasted time between the delivery of each ball was made at a meeting of delegates to the Now Zealand Cricket Council by Mr H. E. Lawrence, but members of the council wore not prepared to support the complaint, states the Christchurch Press. Mr Lawrence said that Pritchard took a very long run, but instead of making his way hack to his starting point while .the ball was being returned from the field he waited some yards clown the pitch. When he did walk back it was at an extremely leisurely pace. Mr J. L. Kerr, thought it was useless trying to dictate to a bowler how he was-to bowl, as long as there was no deliberate waste of time. He was entitled to conserve energy. “It is fast bowlers we are looking for in New Zealand,” said Mr Kerr, “and if we can get another as good 1 think wo should be happy to let him take even longer.” Mr Lawrence said that the apparent dilatoriness might be unconscious and that if it were pointed out to the player concerned there might be , an improvement without in any way affecting bis conservation of energy.
