STIFF RESISTANCE
BERLIN ADMISSION. MANY ENEMY” WOUNDED. Received April 30, 10.45 a.m. LONDON, April 29. The German News Agency admits stubborn enemy resistance at various places in Norway and says the British have evidently received instructions to stiffen their resistance. A Gothenburg report says that many German wounded soldiers are arriving at Oslo and civilians are being removed from the hospitals. According to the British Official Wireless, in the fighting now taking place in the steeply mountainous country of Central Norway, the British authorities are using Army officers who have bad experience of soldiering in mountainous parts of the Empire, and particularly in Northern India. There is, however, no intention of sending Indian troops, who are accustomed to warmer climates and are, therefore, less suited than Englishmen for a campaign in northern latitudes.
