, Aliss 11. E. Akers, of Manapouri Crescent, is returning home this week from a visit to Wellington. Mesdames G. Christie and E. V. Glasspole, of Palmerston North, have been visiting Wellington. Mesdames E. Nesbit and M. Robson were welcomed as new members of the Palmerston North Townswomen’s Guild at the annual meeting yesterday. Pleasure at the return of Mrs A. E. Mansford (president) after her illness was expressed at yesterday’s meeting of the Townswomen’s Guild, Airs T. R. Aloore saying that Airs Mansford had been very much missed. Airs W. T. Ratana (widow of the well-known Alaori leader), whose death occurred last week, was born at Wenuakura, near Patea, on October 25, 1873. Her maiden name was To Urumanao or To Wliaea ote Ivatoa Ngapaki, and she was a daughter of Chief Ngapaki, of the Ngarauru tribe of South Taranaki Alaoris. The family consists of two sons and three daughters. In addition to Mr H. T.' Ratana, M.P., Air Matthew Ratana is a son. and the daughters .are Airs Tairoa and Airs Tamou, both of Ratana. and Airs Raumati, of Waitara. Airs Ratana is also survived by two brothers, Alessrs Tai and Tiaki Ngapaki, both of Patea.
