As the result of an accident early on Saturday, Mr J. Wiley was admitted to the Hospital suffering irom slight head injuries. His condition was later stated to be satisfactory. Air N. IT. Hope, of the Gisborne staff of the Commercial Bank of Australia. has loft for Auckland, where he will undergo examination as a preliminary to sea-going duty with the Roval New Zealand Navy. Air Hope formerly held a commission in the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve and volunteered for active service during the first days of war. but in view of the greater demand for other ratings lias now offered hi* services on the lower dock.
