CARNARVON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) CARNARVON, April 27. Mr Warren presided over a small attendance of householders at. the Clydesdale School at the annual meeting. The following committee were’ elected: Messrs Mansell (chairman), Warren (secretary and treasurer), L. Scott, I). Short and Corry. Messrs Gcnnills, Teague and Zajonskowski, former members, did not seek re-election. The chairman’s report stated that the roll remained fairly steady and was well above the minimum figure for the school’s grade. Dr Jjcehv, Director of Education, who had just returned from a visit abroad, reported that at no time during his visit to England and the United States had he seen a country school which could be favourably compared with the Clydesdale School. The children would be admitted to the dental clinic ill the near future. The Barnett Memorial Cup was held by Ida Maxwell in 1938 and Joan Gcnnills and Ivan McKenzie for 1939. The agricultural plots were now planted in the area set aside for them, thus helping the children and keeping their interest alive. Dawn Teague won the trophy donated by Messrs Collinson and Son, with a particularly fmo entry. The school had a very successful period in sport, winning the Fagan' and Henson Shields, while the combined Tangimoana and Clydesdale football team were runners-up in tbe seven-a-side tournament at Oroua Downs. The report accorded appreciation of the woik of Miss Flavell (teacher) and all who had helped the school. . , Mrs Sandercock has returned from a visit to New Plymouth. Mrs and Miss Connolly have returned to Palmerston North after visiting relatives here. Mrs Thompson » visiting relatives in Wellington. Mrs P. Scott recently visited Tikokino.
