Labour Party rule in the Brisbane C.ty Council ended at the election on Saturday The Labour Lord Mayor (Mr A. J. Jones), who had held office' or six years was heavily defeated by he new Lord Mayor (Mr J. B. Chandler), a Citizens’ Municipal Organisat.on candidate, who beat him by KWIUI votes- to 49,414. Mr Chandler will have the support of thirteen other members, as against Labour’s representation of seven.
