PATRIOTIC FUND EFFORT. A further Patriotic Fund effort by goiters was held at the Palmerston ivortli Club’s links, yesterday, and over 100 ptayers from tile Aiuuawatu and Palmerston North Clans took part. The course was suit, the players getting their first taste- ot winter conditions. A strong, gusty wind Horn tint south-east made conditions ditticuit at times. Many good cards were handed in, especially in the bogey round, when two pairs divided the prize after they had tied with cards ot G up. E. Astiu and A. 13. Warn were the most successful players on the* day, scoring wins in both events. The secretarial duties were carried out by Mr K. ii. Hawkins, the club captain. At tlie conclusion of the play, Mr W. 11. Hopcrott (president; thanked the players for their support ior such a worthy appeal. He also said that from the golf clubs in Palmerston North over £SO had been taken ior the fund—more than £3O at Hokowhitn and £2O from the Palmerston North Chub.
