CENTENNIAL CELEBRATIONS.

HANDSOME PROFIT SHOWN. Tlio statement of accounts presented at a meeting of the Folding Centennial Committee this week, at which the _ Mayor (Air T. L. Sod don) presided, revealed (hat n profit, of £159 had been made at the Centennial celebrations held recently.. A vote of sympathy to Airs A. J. Humphreys and Miss Humphreys, in their bereavement, was carried. A letter was received from the Hockey Association, forwarding a donation and a vote of thanks was passed. It was decided to make a donation of Cl to the Rnngiwahiu Horticultural Society towards its Centennial show. The Tedding Pipe Hand wrote explaining the reason for its inability to take part in the Centennial procession, and offering its congratulations on the splendid display. Air Barltron presented, a list of tradespeople and others in the town who had refunded the amount of their accounts as donations. A vote of thanks was passed and the secretary instructed to write to them. in reference to the Centennial celebrations, the committee considered that the result was highly satisfactory. It was further .intimated that there was a fund of £512 for the Centennial Park Pavilion memorial to he added t f) the'£l2o which the Cricket Association had in hand.- Air Seddon said that another £270 was required before the Government subsidy of £3OO could 1,0 secured, and it was decided that an effort he made to raise that amount. It wnfs pointed, out that subscriptions towards the project were still being received Reference was made to the splendid work done by the secretary (Mr Af. Barltron). the chairman stating that in him the committee had a very energetic and efficient official., A motion placing on record the services Of the secretary was carried. Jhe subcommittees wore also thanked for then assistance.
