(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI. April 26.
The death occurred suddenly this morning of Mr John Gillcepic, a well-known and respected resident, lie had been in the building trade for many years. He wao also a well-known sportsman, being president last reason of the Horowhcnua Kugby Union, president of the Hockey Association, ex-president of the Bowling Club, besides being ail office-bearer of other sports bodies. A widow and family of three —Mrs Dowdall, Miss P. Gillespie, and Mr C. Gillespie—arc left, to mourn their loss. Mrs Duncan Wilson has entered the Wellington Hospital for treatment. The question of heating milk for school children during the winter months was discussed at the householders’ meeting, and the mat ter was one referred to the new committee. Rev. G. S. Cook is at present, in Nov/ Plymouth on account of the serious i ! lnes.s of hi*? son. The friends of Mr E. S. Morse, n.t one time of Oinkj, will regret to learn that he has been seriously ill. inspector A. J. Shearer, who has been confined to his bed for a few days, is about again. Mr Shearer injured his *ido through a motor vehicle capsizing over an embankment, near Wnllacevillo. while a person undergoing a driver’s tod ran off the road.
