NATIONAL PARTY.
WOMEN’S SECTION. The annual meeting of the women’s section of the Palmerston North branch of the National Party was held in the National Club rooms on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs A'. Y. Field presided, and there was a good attendance. Sympathy with those who had suffered bereavement and sickness was expressed. The annual report, which was presented by the president, stated that there had been six meetings of the women’s committee. Members had shown a keen desire to further the interests of the party in Palmerston North. In the absence of the president, Miss Warblirton had attended the first council meeting in Wellington, and at the second meeting Mesdames Mills and Black had been the delegates. As delegates to the general executive, Mesdames Field, Jennings and Burns and Miss Warblirton had represented the committee, and appre ciation of the courtesy extended by Mr H. G. Mills (president) was ex pressed. All activities of the party had been temporarily suspended at the outbreak of war,' hut after an address by the Dominion organiser it had been decided to carry on the work as quietly and efficiently as possible. While not relaxing in any war effort, it had been agreed to continue activities in raising funds. A grand fair had realised about £IOO, and bridge parties had further augmented the funds. Thanks were due to all concerned and to Mrs R. Davis, who gave the proceeds of a privately arranged party. The women’s committee had donated £IOO towards the furnishing of the club rooms. I nder the direction of Miss Warblirton (convener of the house committee) members had helped by serving teas. Mrs H. G. Mills had represented the section on the emergency committee organising helpers for the camp suppers. The finances were in a healthy condition. In conclusion, the president expressed her thanks for loyal cooperation. A debt of gratitude was due to Mr D Black for help, at al times and to Mrs E. B. Jennings, who had been an excellent secretary; also to Mrs and Miss T. Hewitt, for providing a room for the meeting. Mrs L. Bale was voted to the chair for the election of president, Mrs T ield being re elected. Vice-presidents erected were Mesdames N. Blackmoro. A. Fitz Herbert, J. H. Whyte. J. T. Bosworth and Miss T Hewitt; joint secretaries, Mesdames L' Bale and J. H. Wliyte; delegates to the general executive, the president, joint secretaries and Miss C. At Tapp, Brice, Gillott, J. Garde Grimshaw and Blade. Thanks were convoyed to Mr R. H. Spencer in auditing the hooks.
