BOWLING.
Mr George Lynch, who is wellknown to bowlers as the greenkeeper at the Northern Club, has decided to retire from its service. Mr Lynch took up his duties at the Northern Club 12 years ago, and auirng that period nine extra playing areas at least have been put down for the three sections, and the large area has been maintained in splendid playing order. From time to time the Northern Club has been the headquarters for croquet and bowling tournaments due to the excellence of the facilities j available, and the prestige of the club 1 has been enhanced thereby. Mr Lynch j has found time to play bowls and has j participated in centre tournaments on | occasion as well as taking part in club competitions. The members of the club regret his decision to leave their j service and wish him and Mrs Lynch many years of happiness in their retirement. MANAWATU CLUB. There was a large number of participants in an all-dav bowling tournament which was held at the Manawatu Rowling Club’s greens at the week-end. At the conclusion of play, the president of the club (Mr R. H. Billons) presented the trophies to R. O’Connor’s rink (Miles. Cloughton, Christmas, Connor, skip). The winning rink, with four wins and one loss, tied with rinks skipped by Thompson and Hill, but won on the aggregate points.
