ESCAPEE FROM LOCK-UP.
APPREHENDED IN GREYMOUTH. AT LARGE SINCE JANUARY. Eugene Charles Dominie Patrick AleCarthy, alias Hugliic AlcCarthy, alias Henry Johnson, who escaped from the Palmerston North police lock-up on the evening of January 3, has been apprehended at Greymouth. He is a labourer by occupation and 31 years ot age. AfcOnrthy was due to appear in the Magistrate's Court at Palmerston North on the morning following his escape, and when his name was called the case was adjourned sine die. He will appear here in due course. On the evening of his escape lie evaded capture only by ten minutes or so at Longhurn. The police received information that lie was in that locality ami hurried there, but by the time of their arrival be bad moved on. Subsequently, several reports of his being in various localities on this coast were investigated, but these did not produceany definite result.
